Waterford's "Young at Heart Club"

A ‘Young at Heart Club’ has been established to meet the needs of the older residents of the Inner City Area of Waterford.

The Inner City Residents Association set up the project in an attempt to reach out to older people in the area who are living on their own and sometimes without family of their own.

The Club meets twice a month for bingo, trips and other activities. A fund raiser was held recently and a hamper and other gifts were donated. Waterford hurler, Tony Brown, did the draw.

Recent activities have included a Christmas party which was attended by over 200 people. The Mayor of Waterford, Cllr Pat Hayes, was in attendance along with the Community Garda. Many community groups performed for this event as well.

We wish Brother Kevin Mascarenhas who is the secretary of the Inner City Resident Association every blessing in his work.
