Former participants in the Presentation Volunteer Programme gathered from all over Ireland for a reunion at Mount St Joseph in Cork at the weekend. The event was hosted by the PVP Council.
Br Patrick Fitzgibbon welcomed the group back to the Mount. According to Br Bede Minehane the gathering was a response to the desire among volunteers to keep in touch with the Brothers and with other volunteers.
Communications Director for the Presentation Brothers, Andrew O’Connell, was the guest speaker and addressed the theme of “Challenging the Culture”.
“Even though you are no longer overseas on mission, your mission continues here at home,” he said. “Ireland needs that spirit of generosity which you demonstrated by going on mission with the Brothers. An Ireland tempted by individualism and self-satisfaction needs men and women of faith. The Church needs your enthusiasm and your energy.”
The reunion concluded with lunch at the Mount.
