Funeral Rites this weekend in GhanaThe Presentation Brothers, West Africa Province regret to announce the sudden death of their beloved Brother Joseph Yelepuo Wegru.
Brother Joseph was a dialysis patient in the KomfoAnokye Teaching Hospital, Kumasi and was a member of the Marist community in Boukrom while receiving dialysis in the South.
On Wednesday of Holy Week, 31st March, he returned to the Presentation Brothers community in Tamale where he was able to access dialysis treatment in the Tamale Teaching Hospital.
However, after a short illness, he passed away in the presence of the medical staff and Brothers from his community.
He is survived by his brother Stanislaus, in-laws, nieces and nephews and his Presentation Brothers. He is predeceased by his parents, his brothers Gaspard, Oscar and his sister Martha.
Br. Joseph was born in Jirapa in the Upper West Region of Ghana on December 6th 1961. He received his elementary and secondary education in Lawra and Nandom Secondary Schools.
In 1992, he graduated from Mt Mary's Teacher Training College in the Eastern Region with a teaching certificate in French. He made his First Profession of Vows in 1989 and his Final Vows in 1995.
He was Assistant Novice Director at Mount Saint Joseph from 1994 to 1998.
He studied Spirituality and Theology in Milltown Park, Dublin, from 1998 to 2000 and was appointed Director of Novices from 2000 to 2003.
He served as Director of Vocations from 2003 to 2007.
He was elected to the Province Leadership Team in 2005.
Final funeral rites will take place on the weekend of 16/17th of April, 2010 in the Immaculate Conception Church, Kongo. Burial at Mount St Joseph cemetery, Logre.
May he rest in peace.
