In Memoriam: Br James Fidelis Clifford

Br James Fidelis Clifford of Presentation Brothers, Reading, England died on Thursday, 19th May 2011, in Reading. 

Br Fidelis was born to Michael and Catherine (Teahon) in Sneem, Co. Kerry on 10th June 1925.  He entered the Presentation Brothers at Mount St Joseph, Cork in 1942.  He made First Profession of Vows in 1944 and his Final Profession in 1947.

Br Fidelis was educated at his local National School; Coláiste Muire, Douglas, Cork and University College, Cork, graduating with a Masters Degree in Science in1951.  Later he obtained Diplomas in Education and Psychology. He taught in Presentation College, Bray; Presentation College, Glasthule; Presentation College, San Fernando, Trinidad and Presentation College, Reading.  He served as Headmaster at Presentation College, Reading, 1959-1974.

He served as Superior of the Community at Reading, 1959-1965.  He was a member of the English Provincial Council for ten years.

A young Br FidelisBr Fidelis was a member of the Grove Park (London) Community, 1980-1982 and of the Twickenham Community, 1982-2005. He returned to Reading in October 2005 and remained there until his death in May 2011.

Funeral arrangements: Reception of remains at Church of the English Martyrs, Liebenrood Road, at 7pm on Tuesday 7th June 2011.

Funeral Mass on Wednesday 8th June 2011 at 11am, followed by burial in Henley Road cemetery, Reading.
