Focus on Florida - helping children in need

The Presentation Brothers Associates in Kissimmee in Florida have a dynamic outreach to local children in need. Sharon Sikorski of the Associates group explains:

"Every month the Associates purchase a month's supply of food (photographed left) and then distribute it in the school filling the backpacks of the deserving students.

We feed approximately 102 children each week. The children are so excited to receive food that they are always asking the administration if they are receiving food that week.

The result is that each weekend children at a local school go home with a backpack of food to feed them for the weekend.

Other children in the school have held food drives and also volunteer to help fill the backpacks for the weekend.

We are very proud of what we have accomplished and we continue to work hard to help these children and we pray we can continue with the program and continue to raise funds for the food.

Several months ago we spoke at all the Masses in our church and raised around $9000 in two days. Our group continues to be strong and we have had inquires from others who want to join!"
