Brothers in Ghana help refugeesIn recent months there has been politically motivated violence in the West Africa country of Côte D’Ivoire. It erupted after a disputed presidential election in November 2010 in which both the incumbent, Laurent Gbagbo, and his rival, Alessane Ouattara, claimed victory.
Although the U.N. and other organisations confirmed that Alessane Ouattara won the elections, both political rivals took entrenched positions and set up parallel governments. Despite several negotiations and mediations, much violence was unleashed on innocent civilians. Over a thousand people lost their lives and thousands more were displaced. Recently, Gbagbo was arrested but much damage was already done.

Vocations Promotions in West IndiesBrother Robert Fanovich, vocations director in the West Indies, has been busy in recent weeks. Brother Robert, who lives in Grenada, travelled in recent days to the sister isle of Carriacou to meet with a Catholic organisation, L'Esterre Catholic Youth Group. He spoke to them about life's options, the Presentation Brothers and about future plans.
Last month he spent a weekend with the youth coordinators of Grenada, giving a talk on "Why Choose the Half Life?" That event took place in Sauteurs in the north of the island.

In Memoriam: Br James Fidelis Clifford Br James Fidelis Clifford of Presentation Brothers, Reading, England died on Thursday, 19th May 2011, in Reading.
Br Fidelis was born to Michael and Catherine (Teahon) in Sneem, Co. Kerry on 10th June 1925. He entered the Presentation Brothers at Mount St Joseph, Cork in 1942. He made First Profession of Vows in 1944 and his Final Profession in 1947.
