Young Men Begin Formation with Presentation Brothers
Date: 25 May 2017
Venue: Killarney, Co Kerry
Friday 5th May 2017 was a special day for the Presentation Brothers. Not only did it mark the feast day of our founder Blessed Edmund Rice, but two young men were received into the Brothers at our International Novitiate in Killarney, Co Kerry. Br. Raj Selvarathinam, from Sri Lanka, was received as a Novice, while Simon Fernandes from Pakistan was received as a Postulant.
They were received into the Congregation by the Director of novices Br. Barry Noel, with the help of the Assistance Director of Novices Br. Richard English.
We thank God for the gift of these new Presentation Brothers, and we are grateful to all the Brothers and members of the Presentation Family who encourage, pray for, nurture and accompany new vocations. There is a great need for Brothers who will witness to Christ’s love and serve people in the mission of Blessed Edmund Rice today, and the Brothers are always open to receiving vocations from everywhere.
During the reception, Director of Novices Br. Barry Noel shared with the novices that Formation is about creating a visible community where young men can joyfully and wholeheartedly respond to who God wishes them to be. It is important for the young men to be who they really are and to be their truest self. Central to this is the challenge not to conform to a static system of fear and mistrust, but to trust in God’s goodness and be people of hope.
