It was a busy ‘Pres Day’ for our Brothers at Bolgatanga in northern Ghana who focused on sharing their vocation story with young people.

Brother Bernard Gazire from the Br Tom O’Connor community reports…

Brothers Bernard, Franklin and James travelled to Gowre Senior Secondary school to interact with over 300 students who had gathered to hear them.

Br Bernard gave a talk on the signs of a religious vocation and Brothers Franklin and James addressed the many questions on the minds of young people about religious life.  The students wanted us to stay longer, but it was time to go for the next activity of the day.  But I think a window of opportunity was opened and we hope to go back at a later date to meet the students again.

Br Fidelis, meanwhile, was in Presentation Junior High where he spoke to students about the work and vocation of the Presentation Brothers.

Later in the evening there was a gathering in the chapel at the Brothers’ house to celebrate Holy Mass in honour of the day.  The Holy Child Sisters, SMI sisters and some priests from the parish joined the celebration.

The celebrant, Fr Gabriel Atidoog, praised God for the gift of the Presentation Brothers in the diocese and challenged the gathering to endeavour to emulate Mary’s example of sacrifice, humility, readiness to do the will of God by saying “Yes” to God everyday of our lives despite the seeming difficulties, challenges, and bitterness of life.

The day ended with a celebratory dinner at the Brothers’ house.
