Date: 21 Nov 2016
Venue: LexIcon Theatre, Co Dublin
Over 70 people gathered in the LexIcon Theatre in Dun Laoghaire, Co Dublin last Thursday night for Celebrate 2016. The Presentation Family, including past pupil of Pres Glasthule and current Cathaoirleach of Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council Cormac Devlin, gathered to mark Presentation Day, which falls today.
The night began with a welcome from Br Andrew Hickey, before the entire group gathered in prayerful song. A short film was then screened, which looked at the dynamic Presentation Family currently at work in Cork.
Students from the Presentation College in Bray - who recently returned from a week-long immersion trip to Ghana - were interviewed by PBYM Coordinator Jemma Halpin. The students spoke passionately and positively of their time in Ghana, and it was clear that the experience had a massive effect on them all. Spontaneous applause broke out often from the gathered Presentation Family members in response to the young men's testimonies. Two of the students, Benjo and Matthew, who had taken some stunning photographs during the trip, shared their pictures with the group. Some of these can be seen on our Gallery Page.
Afterwards, John Quinn talked to some of the young adults who have been involved with the Alpha Course in Glasthule, including Kevin and Miriad - a married couple who met on Alpha. Another young adult, Sharon, spoke passionately about her experience at World Youth Day in Krakow during the summer.
The group then shared some food and refreshments, as a joyful celebration concluded with long discussions and some welcome reunions.
