Our two volunteers in Ghana, Lauren and Amber, have returned home after teaching at Presentation Primary School in Logre since June.
"It's been an absolutely incredible experience," says Lauren. "We had an amazing time! It was so rewarding to teach at the school! We taught French, science, English, IT and creative art at both the primary school and secondary school!"
Lauren is a native of Cork. She studied commerce at University College Cork (UCC), majoring in food marketing. She graduated in 2013 and spent one year working in southern California with the Irish Dairy Board. Lauren won't have too much time to rest as she departs for Thailand and south east Asia with her sister Dearbhla next week. Dearbhla is also a former volunteer at the Brothers' school in Logre. Lauren will be back in Cork in September and will work in a marketing role for the Irish Fisheries Board in Clonakilty in west Cork.
Amber is from Naas in Co. Kildare. She studied nursing at Trinity College Dublin and, after graduating, worked in a number of hospitals around the country including St. James in Dublin, Limerick Regional Hospital and Naas. Amber has been living in San Francisco since January. She has a love for travel and exploring and is now deciding where her next adventure will take her!
