Annual Mass for Deceased Brothers
Date: 17 Sep 2016
Venue: Mount St Joseph, Cork
The annual Mass for the Deceased Brothers will take place this year on Saturday, September 17th 2016 at 2.30pm. The Mass will be followed by a visit to the Cemetery and then tea.
Our annual Mass for Deceased Brothers is attended by a large gathering of family members and relatives each year. It is always a lovely occasion and a great meeting point between Brothers and the families of deceased Brothers.
During 2016/2017 we are celebrating 125 years of the presence of the Presentation Brothers at Mount St. Joseph. All of our Irish Brothers received their initial formation at the Mount and went forth from here on mission to many parts of the world. This makes this year's celebration of the Mass for our deceased Brothers all the more special.
We are happy to announce that our chief celebrant will be Cormac Cardinal Murphy-O'Connor, Archbishop Emeritus of Westminster. Cardinal Cormac is a past pupil of the Presentation Brothers in Reading. He also spent about eight months in Presentation Brothers College, Cork. His parents sent him over to Cork to stay with his grandmother during the first year of World War II.
