Religion is good for you - Professor

Over 60 delegates representing the various branches of the Presentation Family gathered in Cork last weekend.

The guest speaker, UCD Professor of Psychiatry, Patricia Casey, addressed the question of the relevance of religion to modern Ireland. Quoting from an extensive body of international scientific research, Professor Casey mentioned the different social benefits of religion affecting both individuals and the community.

Prof Casey's presentation may be viewed here. Afterwards, various offices of the Anglo Irish Province including the Vocations, Communications, Youth Ministry and Edmund Rice Offices reported on recent events and progress.

The day concluded with Anglo Irish Province Leader, Brother Walter Hurley, outlining the development of the Presentation Brothers Schools Trust which will come into operation in 2009.
